DVD/Video Review

From the Penarth Times, first published Thursday 21st Feb 2002.

HOLLYWOOD maestros Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts pair up for the first time in the excellent film The Mexican, out to buy now.

Brad Pitt plays Jerry, a man travels to Mexico to pick up a priceless antique pistol in order to settle his debts with a gangster. But, as you can imagine, this is not any easy job, with plenty of obstacles for him to overcome.

Add to that the fact that his ex-girlfriend Samantha (Roberts) is taken hostage by scary hit man Leroy (James Gandolfini) who also has an interest in the pistol.

Finding the pistol proves easy for Jerry, but once things heat up with the baddies, getting home is another matter.

The Mexican is a great movie, pretty funny and very slick. But although Pitt and Roberts are great in their acting, their sexual chemistry does not prove the most sizzling Hollywood has seen.
