Odd plans?

From the Penarth Times, first published Thursday 16th May 2002.

I SEE the final phase of the Penarth Marina development is nearing completion.

Can the Planning Authority really have passed plans that: Allowed the large lettering down the side of the Chandlers' flats? Did they not realise that this is supposed to be an area of beauty, not an opportunity for garish billboarding ?

A completely different style of colour and brickwork, which jar instead of blending. In fact the overall impression of grey/blue and white with metal stairs looks very similar to the almost defunct Billybanks, which as we all know was an eyesore from the first.

A final thought. Many people enjoy the riverside walk from the barrage. In front of Chandlers, however, there is no walkway. Any good reason why planning permission was given for flats right up to the water's edge?
